Vertical Shaft Systems

By lowering the water level in the suction shaft, the required geodetic suction heights of 3.0 m and 7.5 m are set. The counterpressure is set with the control valve. In the buffer shaft, the water is calmed down and runs back into the suction shaft via the equalisation pipe, in which another control valve is installed.

The classic construction method is still the best option, but is technically complex, often difficult to calculate in terms of price, and usually requires much higher investment costs and an official approval procedure.

For the conversion or new construction of existing systems, we recommend continuing to build on this principle.
